Hiking trails in the Hartbeespoort Dam area

The Hartbeespoort Dam area, just 40 km from Johannesburg, offers the chance for a weekend getaway amidst the majestic Magaliesburg Mountains, nature and fresh air. Hennops Hiking Trail

This exquisite hiking trail is situated 16km from Hartbeespoort Dam and meanders along the Hennops River just before it leads hikers into the Magaliesburg Mountains. Whilst enjoying this popular hiking trail, guests can expect a variety of bird life and nature.

Uitkyk

This 7.5km hiking trail is a circular hike that takes between 4.5- 5.5 hours to complete. The hike itself takes guests up the northern slopes of the mountains in Hartbeespoort. The trail follows the boarder of the Magaliesburg Protected Natural Environment. Hikers can expect varied environments along the walk, such as, high grassland, woodland and rocky kloof.

At the end of both of the above hiking trails, guests are able to enjoy a braai however charcoal and wood needs to be personally supplied.
